AOP is a vibrant hub of arts & cultural events and activities serving Japanese North Carolina. As one critic famous, the canvas was an arena by which to behave—”what was happening in the canvas was not a picture but an event.” This notion of artwork as an occasion emerged out of the motion known as summary expressionism, which enormously influenced the art actions that followed, and continues to inspire artists dwelling immediately.
